Humble Apologies

My humble apologies to my sweet husband, who did not force me to go to the Parthenon in Nashville (see my post below). He suggested it, and I went. We both went for what he calls the "cheese factor." Apparently, exaggeration is not allowed in the blogging world...

Exaggeration is allowed, sure, but it sounded so silly all by itself in the previous post, as if I really wanted to go see such a peculiar place on its "merits."

Still, you mentioned last night that the blog was fictional, which made me think of one of my favorite Barthes quotes. It opens the book usually known as Roland Barthes by Roland Barthes, i.e., his autobiography:

"Tout ceci doit être considéré comme dit par un personnage de roman."

("All this must be considered as if spoken by a character in a novel.")

A good motto for any blog, if not for any discursive activity, huh? Should I stick it on my syllabi? Or do you think it would be counter-productive?

Thanks to you, I've found the perfect "description" for my blog. And now with that disclaimer (albeit in French) I won't have to apologize about my "exaggerations" any more! :-)
